Maine Film Association
The Maine Film Association’s (MFA) mission is to advance the art, craft, and business of filmmaking in Maine. Their vision is to make Maine a great place to live and work as a media-maker through networking events, advocacy and professional development.
As President of the MFA (2022-2025) I oversaw the board, determined our strategic plan, recruited members and organized events. During this time, I also founded the organization’s main fundraising event, The MFA Winter Film Challenge.
This annual competition challenges filmmakers to write, produce and edit a short film in just 72 hours. Each year over 20 teams filmmakers participated from across the state. The final films were judged by working film professionals and premiered at a local cinema in Portland, ME. The premiere included an awards ceremony where teams earned trophies and cash prizes.
I oversaw the fundraising, event planning and marketing and was so unbelievably proud at its massive success. It advanced the organization’s mission by encouraging local creatives of all ages to test their skills and connect with members of their community. And, on a personal level, I understand better than anyone how valuable it is to have an excuse and a deadline to be creative.
